Green smoothie

This is one of my favourite breakfasts. It is fast to make and taste absolutely delicious. This smoothie is like a dessert in a glass, but packed with nutritious goodness to fuel your morning. It is a powerhouse of nutrients that supports energy, vitality, and balanced health. Packed with leafy spinach, it is loaded with antioxidants, fibre, and essential vitamins like A, C, and K that help boost immunity and skin health. The banana and avocado provide natural sweetness and creaminess while delivering a dose of potassium, healthy fats, and fibre for digestive support. Adding some protein powder makes this smoothie high in protein, helping to stabilise blood sugar level and curb hunger. Brazil nut will add a required dose of selenium, a mineral important for thyroid function and immune health. Pineapple or blueberries add a refreshing flavour while proving extra antioxidants that can help fighting inflammation. If adding frozen blueberries, the colour is not as vibrant as with pineapple but it is equally scrumptious. The recipe is for one serving, but it can be easily adjusted for more people.

Ingredients

Serves 1

One small, ripe banana
1/2 avocado
A handful of fresh spinach
1 scoop of protein powder (I use vanilla flavour)
1 cup of milk (or plant-based milk of choice)
1 Brazil nut
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple or blueberries

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy. If the consistency is too thick, add a bit more milk of your choice to reach your desired texture.
  3. Pour into a glass, and enjoy!

Note

This green smoothie can also be enjoyed as a smoothie bowl for a more substantial breakfast. Simply add a little less milk to achieve a thicker consistency, then serve in a bowl. Top with your favourite granola, fresh berries, crushed nuts, or coconut chips for extra texture and flavour.
